St. George Parish Council
February 26, 2007 The meeting was called to order by President Boggs. Father Dave opened the meeting with all present reciting the St. George Mission Prayer. Members Present: Father Dave, Sister Muriel, Boggs, Zortman, Schulte, Meadors, Horacek, Whalen, Andersen Minutes of the January meeting were reviewed. Zortman reported on the Hartford Development Committee. A city-wide study was done on development, commercial building, parks, churches, etc. Zortman told about the city of Platte having the children from all the churches meet together on Wednesday nights. They have seen improved attendance. Meadors gave a financial update. He presented a copy of the new budget. The January disbursements and receipts were reviewed. Finance Committee will meet again in March. Father Dave met again with the Diocesan Director of Adult Education in regard to hiring a DRE. Other responsibilities may be added and it become a full time position. A committee will be formed for the 125th anniversary of the parish. Plans are for a picture directory and a Memorial Day Mass and meal. Other ideas for events during the year included a carnival, outdoor concert, Bingo. Father presented completed plans and estimate for the new church building that will be submitted on March 6 to the Diocesan Priest Board of Consulters for their approval. Automatic funds withdrawal for weekly church contributions and for donations to the building fund was discussed. Schulte will check with Home Federal to see what it will cost to make this available to parishioners. Parish Society representatives, the Mohrhausers, reported that two groups will sponsor a Fish Fry at the Center on March 16. Next meeting is Monday, March 26 at 7:00 pm. Father Dave closed the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer.
